About Us

Young People's Bible Camp (YPBC) has been running since 1953 with the purpose of 'Holding forth the Word of Life' with the aim to tell young people the good news of Jesus Christ and how this news can affect them; also to encourage young Christians in their faith.

All camp workers give up their free time and are there to provide the young people with a friendly, fun, safe environment.

Meet Some of the Team

Andy & Sylvia Meek

Bible Camp Leaders

We have had the privilege of being involved in camp work since 2013. It is a joy to meet young people and to be able to share the good news of Jesus Christ with them. We have been married since 1993 and have five children, one of whom is now married. We meet with Christians in Ely, Cambridgeshire. Our role on camp is to try and keep things rolling smoothly to ensure that campers have an enjoyable week, coordinating with our most valuable team of leaders.

Jon & Sian Bustard

Bible Teaching Camp Leaders

We have been involved with YPBC since 2011 and in recent years have led the Young Christians' work of YPBC. It's been really encouraging to teach the Bible to young people and see them grow in their Christian faith. We have been married for 16 years and have a son, Jesse. Jon is a nature conservation professional, and Sian is a keen crafter. We also have a small dog, Otis. We enjoy fellowship with Christians in Stowmarket.

David

Bible Camp - Head Cook & First Aider

I am a primary school teacher who teaches a Reception class. In my spare time I enjoy playing the piano. I have had the privilege of being involved with camp since 2013 and have run the kitchen since 2018. My role on camp, along with my team of amazing cooks, is to make sure that everyone is well fed! I am also a qualified first aider so will be on hand should there be any accidents or injuries.

Jo

Bible Camp - Safeguarding Leader & Cook

I have been to camp since the age of 11, attending Junior, Senior and Young Christians’ camps before becoming a tent leader.  For many years, my Dad ran the Junior Camp and I helped him with this until his retirement. More recently, I have become YPBC's secretary and have helped out in the kitchen on camp. My job is a primary school teacher and in my spare time I enjoy playing the violin in a local orchestra.

Hannah

Bible Camp - Leader

I have been to camp since a very young age as a camper and in the more recent years as a leader. I enjoy working with young people at camp and at the local Church that I attend. I work in a primary school with many children, some who have special needs. In my spare time I enjoy making and decorating cakes as well as looking after my rabbit called Socks. I am really looking forward to camp this year!

Clive & Louise

Bible Camp - Handyman & Cook

We have been involved in camp since 1989. First as tent leaders and then as camp leaders for eight years with a great team. In the more recent years Louise helps with the cooking and Clive helps around the camp where needed. We love camp! Clive is a prosthetic technician and Louise works at UEA in Norwich. We attend a local Church in Costessey.

Dave & Jo

Bible Teaching Camp - Leaders

David has been going to YPBC since he was 10 and has been both a camper, and then a tent leader. He works as a Deputy Head Gardener. Jo has helped at another Christian camp before joining the YPBC team in 2013 where we first met before getting married. Jo was a Paediatric nurse before having our daughter who is now two years old. More recently, we have been helping to organise the Young Christians Camp. We both love to share the Word of God with young people.
